Malaysia's Chilai Aluminium achieved a significant increase in net profit in the second quarter, with the supply pattern supporting regional premiums.

August 31, 2026
The second-quarter financial report released by Malaysia's Chilai Aluminium Holdings showed that the net profit attributable to ordinary shareholders for the quarter was approximately 801 million ringgit, a substantial increase from the approximately 484 million ringgit in the same period last year.

The operating revenue for the same period was approximately 4.69 billion ringgit, compared to 4.19 billion ringgit in the previous year. The simultaneous improvement in revenue and profit reflects the continued high level of industry prosperity.

The company plans to distribute a dividend of 2.5 sen per share, higher than the 2 sen in the same period last year, indicating a good cash flow situation and the management's confidence in the future business prospects.

The management stated in the assessment that the supply imbalance caused by the production cuts at aluminum plants in the Middle East is gradually easing, but the global supply gap may still persist as the new production capacity in Indonesia and other places is still ramping up over time.

Supply constraints combined with the disruption of shipping in the Middle East and the Red Sea continue to support regional aluminum demand, spot premiums, and freight rates, strengthening regional pricing power.

Despite the macroeconomic uncertainties, geopolitical risks, and inflationary pressures that have dampened global demand sentiment, the group expects to deliver a solid performance throughout the year, supported by the strong aluminum prices and high regional premiums.
