According to international media reports, National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) plans to commence operations at its Pottangi bauxite mining project in Odisha in June 2026, aiming to enhance its mining capacity and support the company’s goal of expanding its integrated aluminum business.
The government of Odisha has granted Nalco a 50-year mining lease for bauxite operations in the Pottangi area of Koraput district. The mining lease covers an area of 697.979 hectares, ensuring a stable and long-term supply of raw materials necessary for increasing alumina production.
