Bahrain Aluminum Corporation acquired the Dunkirk Aluminum Plant for 2.2 billion US dollars.

On Tuesday, Bahrain Aluminium announced the acquisition of the Dunkirk Aluminium Plant for approximately 2.2 billion US dollars. This will enable it to fully own this aluminium smelting plant located near Dunkirk, France, which is the largest in the European Union, with an annual production capacity of approximately 300,000 metric tons of aluminium.
The French National Investment Bank will acquire a 6% stake in this business for 100 million euros (approximately 116.5 million US dollars) and will also gain a seat on the board of directors of the Dunkirk Aluminium Plant.
Bahrain Aluminium stated that the acquisition funds were fully provided by a banking consortium partner. The agreement was announced in Paris, and a memorandum of understanding was also signed with the French National Investment Bank. Earlier this year, Bahrain Aluminium had already initiated exclusive negotiations for the acquisition with an American industrial partner.
