According to an announcement on Hydro’s official website, the company has decided to consolidate its extrusion operations in Europe and plans to shut down five plants located in Cheltenham and Bedwas (UK), Lüdenscheid (Germany), Feltre (Italy), and Drunen (the Netherlands).
The company has initiated formal consultation procedures with employee representatives at the affected facilities. If the decision is finalized, these plants will close in 2026.
The five proposed closures involve a total of eight extrusion presses, various value-added processing lines, and three recycling facilities.
Should the closures be confirmed, affected customers will continue to receive products from Hydro’s other manufacturing sites.
Following the proposed changes, Hydro’s European extrusion business would operate 28 extrusion plants and five recycling facilities.
