Yuefeng Group has suspended negotiations with Japanese clients regarding aluminum supply for the second quarter. The reason is that the strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran have led to an escalation of the hostile actions in this key production area. According to an informed source, this metal giant has withdrawn its initial offer of a premium of $250 per ton. The informed source stated that Yuefeng claimed that the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on metal prices was the reason for this change. Japan is a major aluminum importer, and its so-called "Japanese premium" is regarded as the benchmark reflecting the demand in the main downstream market in East Asia. According to two informed sources, the $250 level initially proposed by Yuefeng was already the highest level since at least 2015.
